Cultural Infusion with Art, History & Performance

Mansion On Walnut is located at 420 Walnut and was built by Gideon Rupert in 1862, who was one of the original settlers of Pekin.  The block this beautiful home is situated on was formerly known as Rupert Park.  The Rupert family sold the property to the former Corn Products Company and it was provided to the manager of the plant as his residence in the early 1900's.  Later the residence was repurchased again by descendants of Mr. Rupert.

The house has been maintained very well and is in pristine condition.  Much of the woodwork and crown moldings are original to the house.  The house is decorated with beautiful art exhibits from some of the best Central Illinois Artists and has several inviting rooms with comfortable furniture so you feel right at home when you are here.  Our dining room table will seat 24 and there is room for more seating in the attached parlor.

Pekin Academy of Fine Arts mission is to embrace the public by enriching the culture of our community through the arts; to encourage artists by providing an opportunity to create and exhibit; and to nurture the artistic bent of youths and adults alike through mentorship, instruction and workshops. They offer classes and events at The Mansion on Walnut as well.
